Restore Pride and Inclusive Events in Essex Libraries

We, the undersigned residents of Essex, call on Essex County Council to immediately reverse its decision to pause promotion of LGBTQ+ Pride and inclusive events in public libraries.

Libraries should be welcoming spaces for everyone. This policy excludes LGBTQ+ residents, particularly young people, and undermines community cohesion by sidelining diversity and inclusion.

We demand that the Council:

Immediately restore Pride displays, book promotions, and inclusive events.
Commit to proper consultation with residents and equality groups before future changes.
Ensure our libraries remain inclusive spaces that reflect Essex’s diverse communities.

Diverse and welcoming communities are stronger. Please support inclusion in our public libraries.
